Really, boys . . . what’s all this shouting about?

Tennessee Williams

Another Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Lit Fest is in the books, and it was a fun one. I only caught a fraction of the action but even so, there were some great highlights. Enjoyed hearing Victor LaValle (Slapboxing with Jesus!) and his wife Emily Raboteau talk about the craft and life of writing. What a couple. They seem like the kind of people who make each other faster and stronger because their brains are as sharp as knives and the only way to move through the house (or dinner conversation) is with ninja skills.

I loved the Unfathomable City Salon too. Such a talented crew, and their book is beautiful. A really cool synthesis of lit, art and concept. Poets, mapmakers, historians. This might be my favorite acquisition of 2014 so far. Maurice Ruffins is representing in there, and it was good to see buddy Garnette Cadogen back in town for the salon.
